Flight itinerary for employer or sponsor paperwork
Relocation packages, university enrolments and sponsored work visas tend to reach a point where somebody in HR, an international office, or an immigration firm asks for your travel itinerary before they can move the file forward.
They rarely need you to have paid for the flight. They need a dated document with your name on it that they can put in a file and point to later.
Who asks, and what they're actually doing with it
Usually HR or a relocation coordinator confirming a start date, a university international office issuing enrolment or accommodation confirmation, or an immigration lawyer assembling a sponsorship application. Occasionally a finance team releasing a relocation allowance.
In each case the itinerary is a record, not a transaction. It goes into a file as evidence that a stated arrival date is real, which is why a verifiable booking reference matters more than a payment receipt.
Why you shouldn't be fronting the fare
Sponsored moves change. Start dates shift, visa approvals slip, and cohort intake dates move by a term. If you have bought the ticket to satisfy a paperwork step, every one of those changes costs you a change fee or a fare.
Worse, many relocation policies only reimburse the flight the employer books, so a ticket you buy to unblock the paperwork may never be reimbursed at all. A flat service fee for a held reservation avoids the whole question.
Moving with family
Relocations usually involve more than one traveller. Everyone on the move can be held under a single reservation with one PNR, which is easier for an HR file than several unrelated bookings.
The flat service fee applies once per traveller, and passenger names must each match the passport that person will travel on — the same rule the airline applies to any booking.
Documentation and expense claims
You receive a booking reference and an itinerary PDF by email, plus a payment receipt from Stripe for the service fee. If the cost is reimbursable under a relocation policy, that receipt is what you attach to the claim.
The itinerary can be re-downloaded from your dashboard whenever a form asks for a fresh copy — which, in a sponsorship process spanning months, it usually will.
What it isn't
It is not a ticket, and it should not be presented as one. If your employer or university explicitly requires a purchased ticket — some sponsorship schemes and student visa routes do — a held reservation will not satisfy that requirement.
It also is not travel insurance, a visa, or a guarantee of anything. It is a real, verifiable booking with a departure date, and nothing more than that.
Timing it against a long process
Sponsorship paperwork moves slowly and holds do not. Airline hold windows run from a few hours to several days, so book when a specific document is being assembled rather than at the start of the process.
If a later stage asks for proof again, book again then. That is cheaper and simpler than trying to keep one reservation alive across a multi-month approval.

Yes. Payment is processed by Stripe, which emails a receipt for the service fee. That's the document to attach to a relocation or reimbursement claim.
Can I book for my whole family on one reservation?+

Can the booking be in my company's name?+
No. Passenger names must match the travel documents of the people flying, because that's what the airline holds the reservation against. The Stripe receipt is what carries the payment details for your employer.
My start date might move. What happens then?+
Nothing is owed. The reservation was never ticketed, so there's no change fee and no fare to lose — the hold lapses on its own. Book again once the new date is settled.
Will my employer accept a held reservation?+
Most do, because they need a dated itinerary for a file rather than proof of purchase. Some sponsorship schemes explicitly require a paid ticket — check the wording you were given before booking.
