Flight reservation for a visa application
Almost every visa application asks for a flight itinerary. Almost none of them ask you to have paid for it — and paying for a ticket before your visa is approved means gambling the fare on a decision you don't control yet.
A held reservation solves that. It is a real booking, made with the airline, carrying a genuine PNR the consulate can verify. The fare is simply never paid, so the seat is released instead of flown.
Why consulates ask for an itinerary at all
A visa officer is assessing one question: will you leave when you say you will? A dated itinerary is the cheapest evidence that you have a plan and a departure date, which is why it appears on the checklist for Schengen, UK, US, Canadian and most other visa categories.
What the officer needs is something they can check. A booking reference that resolves in the airline's own system does that. A PDF that looks like a ticket but corresponds to nothing does not, and is the reason some applications are refused outright.
Why not just buy the ticket
You can, and if your visa is refused you will usually lose most of the fare. Airline refund rules are built around cancellation windows and fare classes, not around visa outcomes, and a refundable fare typically costs several times more than a restricted one.
The other common route — booking and cancelling within a 24-hour window — depends on the airline offering that window, on your application not slipping past it, and on you remembering. It is a workaround, not a plan.
What a held reservation actually is
When an airline allows it, a booking can be created without immediate payment. The seat is reserved, the passenger name is recorded, and the airline issues a PNR — the same six-character reference a paid ticket gets. The airline holds it until a payment deadline, then releases it.
That is what we create. It exists in the airline's reservation system for as long as the hold lasts, which is why it can be verified the way any booking can. It is not a screenshot, a template, or a generated image.
What you receive, and when
A booking reference (PNR) and an itinerary PDF, emailed as soon as the reservation is confirmed — usually within minutes of payment. The PDF shows the passenger name, route, flight numbers and dates in the format consulates expect.
You can re-download the itinerary at any time from your dashboard, which matters when an application asks for a fresh copy weeks after you first applied.
What it costs
One flat service fee per traveller. The airline fare is never charged, because the reservation is never ticketed — there is no fare to pay and no refund to chase.
If the reservation cannot be created after you have paid — the fare moved, or the airline withdrew the hold — the service fee is refunded in full, automatically, and we email you to say so.
Before you apply
Check the wording of your specific visa requirement. Most ask for a booking or itinerary; a few ask explicitly for a paid ticket, and a held reservation will not satisfy those. Requirements also change, and vary by consulate within the same country.

Hold length is set by the airline and ranges from a few hours to several days, so a reservation created too early may lapse before your interview. It depends on the visa. Tourist visas usually want a return; transit and onward-travel requirements often accept any departure from the country. Choose round-trip on the search form if you need both legs — they're held as a single reservation under one PNR.
What happens if my visa is refused?+
Nothing further is owed. The reservation was never ticketed, so there is no fare to refund and no cancellation to make — the hold simply lapses at the airline's deadline.
